Alvin Martin – Apart from 17 appearances for Leyton Orient at the end of his Career Alvin Martin or 'Stretch' as he was nicknamed played for 20 years at West Ham and was renowned as a no-nonsense centre back, who made 469 senior career league appearances scoring 27 goals. A winner of the FA Cup with West Ham in 1980 he would go on to win 17 caps for England making his debut against Brazil and playing in the 1986 world Cup held in Mexico.
Interesting facts: Alvin Martin scored a hatrick against 3 different Newcastle goalkeepers, after Martin Thomas was injured; outfield players Chris Hedworth and Peter Beardsley went in goal. He is also only 1 of 2 players to receive two testimonials at West Ham.
Steve Richardson – Won the English Amateur title in 1989 and turned professional the same year. He made a strong start to his professional career, finishing in 29th place on the European Tour Order of Merit in his rookie season. The following year he won the Girona Open and the Portuguese Open, tied for 5th in the USPGA Championship, and finished second on the Order of Merit to Seve Ballesteros. He also ended the 1992 and 1993 seasons inside the top 20 on the money list, while picking up his third career victory in the Mercedes German Masters.
Interesting fact: Steve played in the 1991 European Ryder Cup team which became known as the 'War on the Shore' due to the fervent support by the USA fans. He won 2 points paired with Mark James but lost his singles match 2&1 to Corey Pavin.

Martin Chivers – ‘Big Chiv’ as he became known at Spurs started his career at Southampton where as a schoolboy he wrote to his local club asking for a trial, he eventually made his debut for the saints against Charlton in 1962 and went on to make 175 senior appearances scoring 96 goals He signed for Spurs in 1968 and went on to make 278 senior appearances scoring 118 goals and won 2 league cups and a UEFA cup, before being sold to Swiss club Servette.
Interesting facts: Not many people know this but my wife a keen Tottenham fan who used to watch the likes of Big Chiv form the old East Stand, had a fish named Chivers and a budgie named Perryman.
